Safer Travel to Jersey | Covid19 Travel Advice

We are delighted to confirm that Jersey’s borders are open to holidaymakers and there is no need for you to self-isolate at either end of your trip as long as you are not displaying signs of coronavirus.

The safety and wellbeing of visitors and islanders remains the top priority of the Government of Jersey and they have put in place a Visit Safe charter to provide assurance that tourism and hospitality businesses are working hard to keep you safe during your trip.

Staying safe on holiday in Jersey

In Jersey, you can enjoy your island break with peace of mind that you are following government guidelines to keep you safe.

You must observe physical distancing of 1m between yourself and those from outside your household and avoid close contact like hugging or shaking hands.

Cloth masks are required on public transport and are requested in some shops. They are also mandatory in the Airport and Harbour.

When visiting bars and restaurants and with certain excursion and activity providers, you will be asked to provide your contact details for contract tracing.

So what’s new on arrival into Jersey?

Although Jersey may be familiar to many of you, you will see some changes when arriving into our beautiful island.

Before leaving for Jersey

All travellers must complete an online preregistration form, giving your personal details, plus a declaration of health, countries visited before departing, whether you have COVID-19 symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who is infected. We will send this to you in your pre-departure information.

Upon arrival in Jersey, you must either:

Provide documentary evidence of a negative PCR test, taken within 72 hours of arriving in Jersey

Or:

Be swab-tested at the airport or harbour, then while waiting for your results (within 48 hours) you should limit the time spent away from your accommodation, limit social contact and, where possible, avoid public transport and indoor gatherings. There is no charge to you for this test.

Or:

Self-isolate for 14 days.

What happens if I test positive for COVID-19 on arrival?

Should you test positive for coronavirus, you will be required to self-isolate for 14 days in Jersey and will not be able to travel during this period. In this instance, you will be contacted by the Jersey COVID Contact Team who will discuss your accommodation options with you.

If you are able to stay in your current accommodation you would remain in residence there, if not, the Contact Team would help you with new arrangements and the costs related to this. The Contact Team will also help you arrange return travel and any costs involved will be assessed on a case by case basis.

Your new journey

In both the Airport and Harbour you are required to wear a mask and respect physical distancing. There will also be a few changes at Jersey Airport. This video outlines the safety measures that are now in place at the airport.

We hope this Safer Travel flowchart will help you understand the new procedures so you are ready for a simple and comfortable arrival in to our island. And of course, should you have any further questions, please contact our Reservations department.
